Jemez Springs is a tiny mountain village known for hot springs, red-rock scenery, and its location along the Jemez Mountain Trail.

The village sits in the narrow canyon of the Jemez River and is a great stop while exploring the Jemez Mountains. Jemez Springs itself is easily explored on foot, but its restaurants, lodging, and hot springs also make it a nice base for exploring the surrounding mountains.

Jemez Springs has been known for its geothermal waters for centuries.

Several developed hot springs and spas can be found in the village, including Jemez Springs Bath House and Jemez Hot Springs.

Jemez Historic Site

Just north of the village, Jemez Historic Site preserves the remains of the 17th-century San José de los Jemez mission and the earlier ancestral village of Gisewa. A short walking trail passes through the stone ruins beneath the surrounding red cliffs.

Explore the Jemez Mountains

Jemez Springs sits along one of New Mexico’s most scenic mountain drives.

Nearby stops include Soda Dam, Battleship Rock, Jemez Falls, hiking trails, waterfalls, and the forests of the Santa Fe National Forest.

The road continues north toward Valles Caldera National Preserve and Los Alamos.

Jemez Springs has a few restaurants, galleries, inns, and businesses clustered along NM 4. The village is easy to explore on foot, but attractions in the surrounding mountains require a short drive.
