Abiquiu Lake

Abiquiú Lake is a large reservoir on the Chama River just west of Abiquiú. Surrounded by colorful sandstone cliffs and mesas, it is one of northern New Mexico’s most popular destinations for boating, fishing, camping, and swimming.

Several campgrounds, picnic areas, and boat ramps make it easy to spend a day on the water, while kayakers and paddleboarders enjoy exploring the lake’s quiet coves. Anglers can fish for bass, trout, catfish, and walleye, and the surrounding scenery makes the lake a favorite spot for photography.
