Mesilla
Mesilla is a historic town located just south of Las Cruces. Centered around one of New Mexico’s best-preserved plazas, the town is known for its Mexican and Territorial architecture, historic church, restaurants, shops, and connections to Billy the Kid.
Explore Mesilla Plaza
Mesilla Plaza has served as the town’s social, religious, and commercial center since its earliest years. Historic adobe buildings now house restaurants, galleries, gift shops, and small businesses. The plaza is compact and easy to explore on foot. Notable places around it include:

Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site
Located on the west side of Mesilla Plaza, the Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site preserves a large adobe residence and two historic storefronts. Once the home of longtime state representative J. Paul Taylor and his wife, Mary, the property contains an extensive collection of artwork, furniture, and objects reflecting the history of the Southwest Borderlands.

Visiting Mesilla
You can see most of Mesilla in a half day, including shopping and a restaurant visit.
Mesilla is best explored on foot, with most attractions concentrated around the plaza. Parking is available around the historic district, although spaces near the plaza can fill during weekends and major events.
